Why Load Bank?

Emergencies often occur unexpectedly. Many industries such as oil and gas, shipping, manufacturing or services industries like data centers or hospitals have extra generators onsite for standby purposes.

But what happens, if the backup generating set suddenly doesn’t work? Or unable to take designated load ( like motor starting ) ?

We know that these types of emergencies can result in anything right from financial losses to the loss of human lives. This is where load bank testing comes into picture!! We can keep the generating set in tested and ready condition

Depending upon the requirement one can decide whether to buy or rent a load bank. But as testing devices regularly keep them functioning properly and reliably, it is advisable to buy a load bank For multi time testing

A load bank can be an important asset for variety of industries

“A load bank is a device, which can be either stationary or portable, used to replicate an electrical load, such that users can test generator or uninterruptable power supply (UPS) Or a DC source like batteries..”

  • The main aim of Generator load bank testing is to ensure your backup source of power remains reliable and provides maximum performance when needed.
  • If regular testing is done for the generators then their weaknesses can be detected at earlier stage, and hence they can be repaired for giving continuous power supply in case of unplanned Grid power disruption.
  • If regular testing is not done, many generators which are supposed to run on low load or even no load becomes unreliable.

Perennial Technologies provide high quality high power load banks manufacturing in India at a reasonable cost!

Contact for, 30 KW to 2 Megawatt power load banks in India for sale. Each Load Bank will be 100% tested and demonstrated on load at our end.

Types of Load Banks

There are three most common types of load banks: resistive, capacitive, and inductive.

Resistive Load banks: Resistive load banks provide equivalent loading for both generators and prime movers. This type of load bank can be used for testing turbines, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), gas / diesel generators.

Inductive load bank: This type of load bank is used to duplicate mixed commercial loads consisting of lighting, transformers, motors etc. This type of load bank is used to evaluate the performance of generators and transformers which have lagging Power Factor i.e 0.8 to Unity,

Capacitor load bank: This type of load bank is used to generate loads that simulate certain electronic or non-linear loads typical of computer or UPS industries.

DC load banks: This type of load bank is used to test performance of battery bank and Rectifiers

Where Load Banks are used?

Various applications of load banks include:-

  • Factory testing of engine diesel generatorsets and turbines
  • Wet stackingproblems reduction in diesel engines run at light load
  • Periodic testing and exercising of stand-by engine generator sets
  • Testing of Batteryand UPS systems
  • Ground power testing
  • Load optimization in prime powerapplications
  • Tests for Load rejection
  • Tests for Data centers  (electricity and air-conditioning)m
  • Testing motor starting load
